EJCT 2017 in Östersund
We’re happy to announce that Östersund Curling Club will host next seasons first EJCT competition for boys and girls. LiveChannel Cup in Härnösand is not going to happen this autumn, and we have chosen to step in and substitute for them this year.
Our club is an experienced and well renowned organiser with four World Junior Championship events under the belt. With 96 new “Olympic standard” stones from Kays of Scotland last season and water treatment/dehumidification systems You can rest assured we’re doing our very best to have great ice conditions.
Athletes participating in the World Junior-B championship last january praised our organising committee and volunteers for a fantastic event, and now we get the chance to welcome the rest of the top junior teams from all over Europe with all of our hearts.

JUNIOR BONSPIEL IN ÖSTERSUND CURLING CLUB 5-8 OCTOBER 2017
When: 5-8 oktober 2017
Where: Östersunds Curlinghall – 6 sheets with Kays “Olympic standard” stones and water treatment/dehumidification systems.
How: 12 women’s and 12 men’s teams divided into two groups.¹
Schedule: Will be posted as soon as possible after 15th august.
Practice: Thursday 18.00-20.00
First game: Friday ≈ 09.00
Final game: Sunday ≈ 14.00
Entry Fee: SEK 2.800/team
Prize purse: Women’s & Men’s, 1st SEK 13.000 | SEK 2nd 8.000 | SEK 3rd 4.000 ¹
Accommodation/meals package: SEK 5.000 ² To be paid upon arrival in Östersund.
Transfers: From airport to hotel ≈20 minutes, train station ≈10 minutes, club to airport ≈20 minutes

Girls and boys teams will play in separate tournaments.
The Tournament is played according to the World Curling Federation rules and applying the four-rock rule.
All matches are played over 8 ends with an extra end if necessary. If no points are scored in the extra end the teams will play one shot to the button for the match.
The teams will play a round robin in 2 groups of 6 teams, and the three highest ranked teams in each group are qualified for the play off. The number of wins and internal results will decide the ranking. If unable to separate teams using this method the average of LSD results will be used. In case of elimination from the tournament one round of tie-breaker games will be played according to WCF rules.
The second ranked team from one group plays the third ranked team from the other group in 2 quarterfinals, and the winners play the first ranked team from the group including the third ranked team in the semifinals. The loosing teams in the quarterfinals are ranked according to the LSD results only. The loosing teams in the semifinals will play a match for third position.

EJCT players will stay at Scandic Östersund Syd, located just a short busride from the action in Östersund Curling Club. At the hotel the players can start the day off enjoying an all organic breakfast buffet with lots of tasty choices – bacon, scrambled eggs, fruits and delicious freshly baked bread and cold cuts. Of course they’ll offer pancakes too.

Location Scandic Östersund Syd is located 3,5 km from the city centre, or 4,6 km from the venue. The #2 bus line connects the hotel with the Curling Club. A single ride cost SEK 30:- for adults (SEK 15:- if You’re under 19) and takes about 10-12 minutes. Buses do not accept cash, major creditcards are accepted. You can buy a “valuecard” which You can “load” with a value for a certain amount of rides.
Traveling to Östersund
Åre/Östersund Airport (OSD) is closest to Östersund (14 km) and is operated by two carriers, SAS and BRA. Transfer to and from OSD airport by bus takes only 15-20 minutes to most locations in Östersund. All teams participating at EJCT2017 are offered a bus transfer between OSD airport and the players hotel.
Save on airfares by booking early! Flights to/from Östersund has a lot of business travelers and the cheapest fares are very popular among students attending the Mid Sweden University in Östersund.
Scandinavian Airlines, SAS, the largest airline in Scandinavia, offers cheap flights to and from Åre/Östersund airport every day. SAS operates Stockholm Arlanda International (ARN) and offer Youth tickets to and from Östersund. SAS is a member of Star Alliance and has plenty of connection throughout Europe.
BRA, Braathens Regional Airlines, operates the smaller city airport Stockholm Bromma (BMA) which has cooperation with Finnair and Brussels airlines. There are several Destinations in Europe you can fly to non-stop from Bromma airport (BMA).
There is also an international airport in Trondheim/Vernaes (TRD), Norway (230km from Östersund) with flights to the following cities: Alicante, Amsterdam, Antalya, Barcelona, Berlin/Schönefeld, Dubrovnik, Gdansk, Korfu, Krakow, KøbenhavnLondon Gatwick, Malaga, Murcia, Nice, Reykjavik, Riga, Split, and Tallinn. TRD airport is operated by SAS and Norwegian and KLM. Transfer to Östersund from Trondheim airport can be made by rental car or by regional train. Local train from Værnes station to world famous Hell station, change to regional train bound for Östersund. Total travel time from TRD airport to Östersund is almost 4 hours, and only a couple departures per day, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.
SJ (the national train operator) has regular services between Östersund and many cities in Sweden. It is more time-consuming than flying, but if you wish to see the country, a good option indeed. Travel time from the capital Stockholm is ≈4 hours 50 minutes using the high-speed train which has a daily service in each direction (in the afternoon from Stockholm, in the morning from Östersund), whereas slower trains take around 8 hours.
